Night & Experimental

Light after dark

I shoot more at night than I probably should. Something about the dark makes light behave strangely — in a good way. Some of these are long exposures, some are experiments, and some are just what a city looks like at 2am when no one's watching.

Marina Bay Sands — Singapore showing off after dark.
Light-painting a portrait — she held still, the light didn't.
Waited an hour for the sky to do this once.
A flower that looks like it belongs to the night.
Just the moon. No tricks, just patience.
Two lamps, one wall, and a color palette I didn't plan.
Somebody hung the stars low enough to touch.
Boston's sky caught fire for about four minutes. I was lucky to be there for three.
Looking out from inside the rock. Sometimes the frame is already there.
A bridge glowing like it's trying to be a spaceship.
An empty rink and a Zamboni doing its quiet work.
Looking up through the leaves — a small window of blue.
Sunset sneaking in under the branches.
Night in the city, said no one ever. Just me and one passing car.
Photo-walkers turned night-crawlers. The red light held us there.
Rishikesh after dark — the bridge glows long after the crowds go home.
